Apple: Two-Year Warranty Accepted in Italy

The topic of Apple warranty periodically resurfaces: for a long time, it was said that the Cupertino company provided only one year of warranty, contrary to the two years mandated by European community law.
There have always been many protests, primarily from consumer associations that have repeatedly urged Apple to comply with the relevant regulations, allowing customers to benefit from a two-year warranty.
In fact, Apple has always offered its customers a paid extension for an additional year of support through the purchase of the optional “package” called the Apple Care Protection Plan.
However, this solution has always been contested – as well as being criticized by the Antitrust Authority with a €900,000 fine imposed on Apple – and today the news arrives that the Apple warranty applies for two years, as per the valid law in Italy.
Here’s how the reference text on Apple’s website has specifically changed: until yesterday, it read: “Each Mac, iPod, iPhone, and monitor includes 90 days of complimentary telephone support and a one-year limited warranty. The AppleCare Protection Plan extends coverage and provides immediate technical support from Apple experts“.

Today, however, on the page www.apple.com/it/support/products/, you can read something decidedly different: “The benefits of the AppleCare Protection Plan are in addition to the two-year seller’s warranty provided by Italian consumer law“, as the last paragraph on the aforementioned page states.
Apple customers can therefore be satisfied: from today, the warranty on Apple products is valid for two years in all respects, with the possibility of extending its effects by purchasing the AppleCare Protection Plan for an additional year.
