Aakash 2 is the name of the tablet that costs less than any other in the world, to date. Here is its price, truly low-cost.
It probably won’t ever arrive in Italy, and who knows if it will only benefit some Asian country besides India; the fact is that news has arrived about the release of a low-cost tablet, or rather, ultra low-cost.
Its price is indeed far below even the most economical tablets we are accustomed to knowing.
It is called “Aakash 2” and was created with clear educational and literacy purposes, and precisely for this reason, it was designed and offered at a truly very low price.
The cost containment is also due to the fundamental contribution received from the Indian government itself, through a specific subsidy.
It is a 7-inch tablet with the Android 4.0.3 operating system, equipped with a 1 GHz Cortex-A8 processor.
The RAM is 512 MB, while the internal memory allows for storing 4 GB of content.
The tablet features a module for network connection via Wi-Fi and also has a VGA camera.
Its technical characteristics are quite minimal, therefore, as is its battery life, of only 3 hours.
However, it should be remembered that this is essentially a tablet designed for education and e-learning, so everything has been designed with this consideration in mind.
The price of Aakash 2 is $20 for students, but the tablet can still be purchased by anyone: in this case, however, the price will be higher, although still low-cost.
Those who are not students can purchase the Aakash 2 tablet for $80.
The tablet will soon be distributed to all educational institutions in India, starting with an initial production batch of about 100,000 units, which could, however, multiply.
