“Game Studios” is the name of Amazon’s project dedicated to videogames: social-flavored games are launching.
Amazon is demonstrating more and more each day its intention to expand its reach, not only by releasing new tablets and ebook readers in the coming months but also by considering new sectors.
Indeed, the “Game Studios” project has been launched, the headquarters for Amazon‘s own videogames, set to be released soon.
For distribution, the plan is to focus on social networks, and naturally, the first contact made was with Facebook.
The king of all social networks has, until today, been an almost entirely undisputed territory for Zynga, an authority in social games, especially considering the global success of Farmville.
According to some rumors, some former Zynga employees have actually moved to Amazon in recent months, which already suggested a possible entry into the sector.
The official announcement of Game Studios’ launch now comes directly from Amazon’s headquarters: “We know that many of our customers love to play videogames, including free and social ones, and we believe that thanks to Amazon’s expertise, we can provide a great experience that can be used at any time“.
There is also already a first game ready or almost ready for release: its name is “Living Classics,” and it will be distributed precisely on Facebook. The game is based on various famous fairy tales – from Alice in Wonderland to The Wizard of Oz – within which a fox must navigate to complete various missions, level by level. A video trailer of the game is presented at the end of the article.
There is, therefore, already much anticipation for Amazon’s debut in the gaming sector: what innovations will this reality bring to a sector that is currently too stagnant?
