Kindle MatchBook is Amazon’s new service that allows you to get an ebook for every physical copy purchased.
Just as already implemented in the music sector with AutoRip, Amazon has launched a new service related to the book sector.
Kindle MatchBook will from now on allow users to be entitled to the download of an ebook for every purchase of a physical copy.
The service has currently only launched in the United States, but it is presumed that it will soon arrive in other markets where Amazon operates.
Kindle MatchBook will also have retroactive effect, meaning that those who have already bought books on Amazon in the past are guaranteed to receive the respective ebooks.
It should be noted that, unlike what happens with AutoRip, the new Kindle MatchBook service does not allow free ebook downloads.
In this case, in fact, a fee, albeit small, will still have to be paid: the price to obtain the electronic version of the newly purchased book will generally range from 99 cents to $2.99. Only in a few cases will the digital copy be entirely free.
The Kindle MatchBook catalog currently comprises about 70,000 titles, considering that it is possible to find books purchased as far back as 1995, the year Amazon began its operations.
It is not known when Kindle MatchBook will also be activated in Italy, but as soon as it happens, we will discuss it in more detail, indicating its functionality and prices in our country.
