Nikon D600: price of the new full frame

The features of the Nikon D600 have been revealed, and at the same time, the selling price has been announced, lower than before.

Several months ago on FullPress we reported some anticipations about the Nikon D600: the rumors were very few but have today been confirmed with the news of the actual release of the Nikon D600.
The new full-frame digital SLR features a Nikon FX CMOS sensor with 24.3 megapixels (35.9 x 24mm) and, despite this, it is characterized by being much more compact than its older “sisters”, as well as the most compact in its class currently on the market.
The shots are detailed and sharp, also thanks to the ISO range from 100-6400 (expandable from 50-25,600) and the optical viewfinder with glass prism that guarantees just under 100% frame coverage, as well as 0.7x magnification (50 mm f/1.4 set to infinity, -1.0m⁻¹).
Everything is processed and made available very quickly by the EXPEED 3 image processing engine, precise even when it comes to video capture: the Nikon D600 also allows recording Full HD videos (1080p) that can be captured at 30p, 25p, and 24p, with 60p, 50p, and 25p options at 720p.
Each clip can have a maximum duration of about half an hour, specifically 29 minutes and 59 seconds.
There is the possibility to use an external microphone and there is also an output for headphones.
As for the battery, Nikon states that for each charge it is possible to take 900 shots or approximately one hour of video.
The overview of functionalities and work performed can be monitored thanks to the 3.2-inch (8 centimeter diagonal) LCD monitor with 921,000 dots.
All this is enclosed in only 760 grams (without battery), ensuring easy handling and good resistance even to aggressive external agents.

Although it is a professional product, its features make it perfect also for the photography enthusiast who – discovering new techniques – could initially find support in the 19 available Scene modes, from filter effects and modifications that can be applied directly in-camera, without external post-editing.
Finally, the price of the Nikon D600 has so far been officially announced only for the United States, and it is 2099 dollars for the body only, while for those wishing the combination with the 24-85mm f/3.5-5.6 lens, the price is 2699 dollars.
We will update this article with the price in Italy as soon as it is officially announced, but meanwhile it is already possible to get an idea based on the US price: it could range between about 2000 and 2200 euros for the body only, rising to 2500 euros with the included lens.
