The new Apple TV arrives in Italy with its selection of movies to rent or buy at prices for every budget. Here is some basic information about Apple TV and its purchase price.
The new Apple TV immediately stands out for being more compact than the previous model, while maintaining the minimalist style that distinguishes Apple products: the Apple TV is a square-shaped device, black in color, very slim (9.91 cm sides by 2.29 cm). The Apple TV is ready to use as soon as it’s turned on: there’s no need to synchronize it; on the contrary, it can immediately connect to the internet and any PC.
The Apple TV is the evolution of the classic home television, as it becomes a complete home multimedia center: quick access to YouTube, easy acquisition of podcasts, radio (receives over 4000 web radio stations), intuitive use of services like Flickr to watch your photos directly on the Apple TV.
However, the real strength is undoubtedly the rich catalog of movies available through the iTunes Store: you can both buy and rent current titles, classics, and previews. Prices range from 99 cents upwards.
Once a movie is rented, the user will have 30 days to watch it; when playback is initiated, a 48-hour timer will start, within which you must finish viewing. The movie can, understandably, be paused and resumed at will. After this period, the movie will automatically be removed from your Apple TV.
The new Apple device already features AirPlay, so – once iOS 4.2 is released – it will be possible to directly share movies and multimedia content with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the TV.
The price of Apple TV in Italy is set at 119 euros.
