Apple presents iOS 8: availability and new features

**iOS 8** has arrived, officially unveiled a few hours ago by **Apple** executives.

Apple unveiled a whole series of innovations during the WWDC 2014 conference; among these stands out the upcoming release of iOS 8.
The new operating system from the bitten apple sets a new course compared to the past, not being simply a light “refresh” of iOS 7.
Version 8 focuses heavily on the developers’ world, with more possibilities to introduce optimized apps. For example, you will be able to access the TestFlight area precisely to allow some users – to be invited at your discretion, as a developer – to try beta apps.
Regarding the usability of the App Store, a tab – Explore – has been introduced that improves search, emphasizes results, and also allows you to preview a short presentation video.
On the user side, however, there are several new features in iOS 8. First of all, the notification center has been modified: now it will be possible to consult alerts without necessarily having to exit apps and without leaving the current activity.
Some improvements have also been made to the “Messages” functionality, with the possibility of creating groups more easily or distinguishing between them; of interrupting and/or reactivating notifications and of selecting conversations with the “do not disturb” option.
To share information with your family, here comes the “Family Sharing” option: from purchasing apps using a single credit card to the ability to remotely manage document exchange.

As for the voice assistant Siri, with iOS 8 it will be able to “listen” and recognize songs through Shazam – with a single step, therefore, without having to open the app obligatorily.
In the photography department, the new operating system also sees innovations related to the Camera Roll, with the transfer of shots to iCloud and therefore, consequently, with the real-time availability of photos also on other devices linked to your account. Search by album, location, and date is then enhanced.
HealthKit is introduced for constant monitoring of your “medical” information, collecting data from certain apps used, for example, to track parameters such as weight, heart rate, etc…
The keyboard also sees a rethink, with QuickType: in fact, word suggestion improves, thus helping in typing messages, emails, and texts in general.
To start using iOS 8 we will have to wait for the fall, while developers can access it starting today.
