Apple’s new MacBook Pro Retina has keyboard and trackpad problems in some cases: Apple promises a fix update.
After discussing the battery issues with some iPhone 5S devices, here’s another defect that has emerged with a new Apple device.
Shortly after its release, some users reported that the MacBook Pro Retina has keyboard and trackpad problems.
Specifically, it has been noted that sometimes the keyboard stops responding to commands and freezes. To get it to resume normal functionality, some users have found that simply closing the MacBook Pro Retina’s lid/screen is enough.
In other cases, however, this maneuver has no effect, and a system reboot has been necessary.
In fact, Apple itself has recommended closing the lid and waiting a minute for the keyboard to start working correctly again.
However, while suggesting this entirely temporary solution, the Cupertino company issued an official press release stating that technicians are working to resolve the problem.
Apparently, the criticality appears more frequently in the 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina models, although malfunctions have also been reported on the 15-inch models.
From some experiments conducted by buyers and reported on various industry forums, it seems the problem occurs when using the new OS X Maverick. The situation returns to normal and functions correctly simply by reverting to Mountain Lion.
Obviously, this cannot be the definitive solution to the issue, and Apple itself has promoted a detailed update fix to fully resolve the problem.
