For some hours now, a rumor has been spreading on the web regarding an alleged anomaly found on Facebook profiles.
The alarm was raised in France: according to reports from some readers of the “Metro” newspaper, some private messages have appeared on walls, publicly visible to all friends.
Specifically, it is noted that this material – also coming from chat sessions – dates back to the years 2007, 2008, and 2009.
As the news spread, Facebook headquarters issued a firm denial: there is no bug or technical anomaly of any kind, as these messages have always been present on personal profiles.
Therefore, Facebook rejects accusations of privacy violation, without however providing any remedy to the issue nevertheless raised by users.
In fact, attempting to delete the offending messages only hides the conversation from your own view, without achieving the desired public effect: friends will continue to see the messages, as will the person to whom they were addressed.

To check if the same thing is happening on your profile, you need to scroll back through your Wall, looking for the various “friends who have written on your wall” boxes. Private messages – if present – might be found in this area. This box could repeat itself, as the search goes year by year.
There should be no problems, however, for those who joined after 2009.
In any case, it is recalled that Facebook denies a technical error, so formally there should be no problem.
