The new meeting point for women working in ICT is Donne@work, the database that has already achieved good results in just 6 months.
It’s called Donne@work the new online desk to collect the experiences of women with skills in the ICT sector. A database started six months ago that has already collected about 600 resumes, now useful for companies to track specialized professional figures.
While the labor market is a victim of the current economic situation, it is also true that a gender gap persists that is hard to overcome. Donne@work aims to be a meeting point for ICT professionals and a space open to reflection regarding salaries, which are generally lower for women.
Recent studies conducted by the 2010 Professional Profiles Observatory of Assintel actually highlight that the salaries of women employed in ICT are lower than those of their male colleagues, at the same level: the difference amounts to 22% for executives, 7% for managers, and 6% for employees.
And as for the use by women of part-time work (15%) or teleworking (2%), the situation is no better. Finally, it is noted that in 20% of companies there are completely lacking facilities useful to reconcile work and family roles.
Donne@work, now also open to companies, aims to connect the demands of entrepreneurs and female workers, in search of a common strategy aimed at productivity.
Giorgio Rapari, President of Assintel and Councilor of the Chamber of Commerce, defines this project as “Concrete and immediately operational work to help businesses and the labor market, voluntarily and freely carried out by the Women’s Entrepreneurship Group of Assintel: this is the spirit of the project, which contributes to providing an answer both to the gender gap and to an economic situation still in crisis.”
While waiting to gather feedback about experiences and collaborations born through Donne@work, we point out that the promoters of the initiative (Assintel Women’s Entrepreneurship Working Group, ManagerItalia, and the Primadonna association) this morning welcomed companies interested in the project at a press conference, welcoming them to the database.
