Storm between Apple and Motorola: a lawsuit filed from Cupertino for patent infringement. The subject of contention is Motorola’s Droid, deemed by Apple to be too similar to the iPhone.
Apple has sued Motorola in a Wisconsin court, convinced that the new Motorola Droid features are too similar to the iPhone. Specifically, Apple is pointing to six patents related to touchscreen and multitouch technology. Maximum attention is also being paid to the operating system, the system for accessing information on the device, and their interaction.
However, it is important to note that Motorola, just a short while ago (at the beginning of October), sued Apple at the ITC (US International Trade Commission): in this case too, it is a lawsuit for patent infringement, particularly concerning some features of the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Motorola, in filing its complaint against Apple, explicitly requested the withdrawal of the aforementioned Apple products from the market.
Based on these “legal” reports, a lengthy legal battle between the two telecommunications giants is to be expected, with mutual accusations that – this much is certain – will continue for a long time.
