The third quarter of 2010 sees the smartphone market in a position of evident growth, while feature phones are not keeping pace, showing a slowdown. A report by Strategy Analytics highlights this situation and also points out that Apple appears among the top 5 mobile giants, thanks to an estimated 91% increase in iPhone sales.
The unstable economic climate is responsible for the compression of overall mobile phone volumes; however, Strategy Analytics analysts believe a new positive trend is possible in the coming months, a trend largely attributable to smartphones.
Interactive and smart phones are now firmly on the wish list of those considering purchasing a device, although it should be noted that Nokia phones (even the “older generation”) remain in first place.
