It’s been talked about for days, speculated endlessly, but certainties are lacking: at the Apple event on March 7, there will definitely be an announcement about a new product, but it’s unclear whether it will be the iPad 3, an iPad 2S, or if we will witness a name change to iPad HD.
On March 7, Apple will kick off a new product presentation event at the Yerba Buena Center of Arts in San Francisco: this, for now, seems to be the only certainty surrounding this occasion that is thrilling Apple enthusiasts and industry observers alike.
The presentation of the iPad 3 is anticipated but, at the same time, there are rumors of minor substantial changes compared to the iPad 2.
It’s 9to5Mac that is spreading the indiscretion: it seems that the price of the new device will not change compared to the model currently on sale.
Furthermore, it also appears that storage capacity should remain the same. So, what are the real novelties?
This gives rise to doubts that perhaps, rather than an iPad 3, we are perhaps talking about a sort of partial evolution of the iPad 2.
In short, the Apple community might perhaps witness the presentation of an iPad 2S, borrowing the name from the past experience related to the launch of the new iPhone 4S. Regarding its name, another hypothesis is that the new device could be called “iPad HD“.
If this latter possibility were confirmed, it would actually account for the fact that some more substantial novelty might actually be present: rumors coming from the United States speak of the implementation of the Siri voice recognition system and the evolution of the screen which would feature the Retina Display. And this would fully give substance to the rumors regarding the name change to iPad HD.
Finally, there are also rumors about support for LTE networks.
Among all these hypotheses, perhaps the most plausible one relates to the screen change.
We don’t have to wait long: in a few hours, the veil will be lifted on Apple’s novelties.
