The impact of the sales and distribution success of Samsung smartphones is significant: Strategy Analytics reports this, disclosing staggering numbers, possibly at Apple’s expense.
It might be the success of Android and its rich app catalog, it might be the open system that is highly appealing, it could be the varied prices or the ease of finding Samsung smartphones; what is certain is that the market seems to appreciate these products, purchasing them in quantity.
The conclusion of research conducted by the London-based company Strategy Analytics is pretty much this: Samsung – in recent months – is experiencing a significant +370% increase in the diffusion of its smartphones.
In figures, we are currently talking about 27.8 million Samsung smartphones sold worldwide.
An achievement that is respectable in itself, but which takes on an even stronger light when compared to Samsung smartphone sales figures last year, in the same reference period: 7.5 million units distributed.
With these numbers and despite the great success of the iPhone 4s, there is already talk of a direct comparison with Apple, which can certainly count on a core of loyal customers, but does not come close to matching the aforementioned figures at all.
The power of Samsung to more easily reach a wider range of potential users should not be underestimated: there are indeed smartphones for all budgets, with mid-to-low prices, up to figures that qualify them as high-end smartphones.
Based on data from the third quarter of 2011 and these rather significant numbers, it is therefore possible to state without a shadow of a doubt that Samsung is today the world’s leading smartphone manufacturer.
However, the challenge is constantly open, especially now that the presentation of the new Nokia smartphones with Windows Phone has at least managed to pique the curiosity of carriers and potential buyers.
