Rumors of the imminent introduction of video calls on WhatsApp continue to circulate.
Such an option is desirable for a large number of users, to actually gain access to the possibility of making video chats also through the popular instant messaging application platform.
It can be said that the arrival of video calls represents a sort of “natural evolution” for an app of this kind, and it is clear that the development team is working precisely in this direction.
The latest source to revive the topic was the German website Macerkopf, as it published an article discussing it.
More than the words, the set of photos accompanying the piece captures attention: these are precisely images of a likely trial version of video calls via WhatsApp.
According to what has been learned – entirely unofficially, it should be stressed – WhatsApp video chats will be conducted in two modes: it will be possible to use either the front or the rear camera, interchangeably.
The system is also designed to work both via Wi-Fi connections and with data plans (3G or 4G, depending on the possibility offered by your phone and the coverage provided by your mobile operator).
Naturally, one wonders how much a video call might consume in terms of data plan: this is always a “critical” and very important point to keep in mind.
An issue only secondary to another big question: how much will it impact battery consumption?
At the time of writing, there are no certain answers, especially because the WhatsApp team has not yet released any official statement regarding the existence of the “video calls” project.
We will therefore have to wait for the launch, which, given the frequent rumors, should not be long in coming.
