WhatsApp: Annual Fee Payment Now Available on iPhone, But Not for Everyone

WhatsApp is becoming paid with a recurring annual fee on iPhone: here are the details and who is exempt.

Announced some time ago, the changes are now effective: the WhatsApp for iPhone version is also becoming paid.
This does not refer to the price for downloading the app, which has always been the method used on the App Store to obtain this instant messaging service.
Instead, it refers to the annual fee payment, exactly as has been happening for several months on Android, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry devices, and as anticipated last March on FullPress.
Once WhatsApp is downloaded, the monetary outlay will need to be repeated every year if you wish to continue using the service.
In actuality, to be precise, subscription options for three or five years are also available.
However, not all iPhone owners will be forced to pay the annual fee from today onwards: WhatsApp’s decision will not affect existing customers’ habits in any way.

For those who already use WhatsApp on iPhone and have therefore already paid for its download via the official website or the App Store, nothing changes: no additional payment will be due, and thus they will have an unlimited version.
The novelty will therefore apply to those who download WhatsApp for iPhone for the first time from today onwards: in this case, a new payment will be required every 12 months.
