WhatsApp disappeared from Windows Phone Store: the reasons

WhatsApp has been removed from the Windows Phone Store: what is happening? Technical issues under review.

A new issue is currently affecting WhatsApp, the now widespread instant messaging application.
In recent days, many have noticed that WhatsApp has disappeared from the Windows Phone Store: it all started over the past weekend, when the application was completely removed from the platform.
Subsequently, after a few hours, WhatsApp reappeared on the store but in a decidedly new form; it was indeed “uploaded” again but in “private” mode.
When any application is set by developers in this way, it means that, despite being present, it is not possible to download it, as if it were momentarily “frozen”.
This move has generated much confusion among users of smartphones with the Windows Phone operating system, also because no official communication has been received from the WhatsApp staff – now owned by Facebook – to explain the reason for this move.
Only later did an external source, namely WPCentral, spread the news that WhatsApp was removed from the Windows Phone Store due to technical problems which are already being worked on.
No more precise details have been provided, however, it appears that consultations and activities are underway in synergy with the Microsoft staff, to contain the situation and get everything working again.

All of this was then confirmed by a note released by the developers.
At the moment, however, it is not possible to know when everything will be restored; some are even talking about about a month before Windows Phone users – old and new – can download the app again.
We will follow the situation and communicate a new availability date, should it be officially released.
