Called “More Than Books”, this Genoese project establishes the first free digital library for accessing free music, movies, and especially ebooks.
The Municipality of Genoa has officially launched a highly interesting initiative named “More Than Books”.
In essence, this marks the presentation of the first free digital library, born from the recognition of the widespread use of smartphones and other mobile devices. If online connections and searches on mobile are growing at an impressive rate, then providing various types of digital content accessible via smartphones can be highly beneficial.
This was the insight of the Genoese administration, which has now launched the “More Than Books” project. It offers access not only to digital books but also to free music, movies (in both Italian and original languages), audiobooks, e-learning courses, periodicals, newspapers, educational games, and more.
Users can access content through streaming services or even download it to keep a copy of texts or other materials of interest. There is also the option to borrow books and guides for a maximum period of two weeks.
The entire platform is designed with social interaction in mind, allowing users to leave reviews, vote, post comments, and thus offer recommendations to other users.
“More Than Books” boasts a significant advantage: it is entirely free, an almost irresistible draw for many people.
How can you start using the free digital library?
First, you need to access the official website of the Urban Library System or the University Libraries portal. From there, you’ll need to register by providing your fiscal code and filling out all the fields in the self-registration form. Once completed, the service can be used freely and without charge.
