**Spotify** announces new features: **free on Android and iOS**, for a completely different mobile experience.
Following the recent rumors about the possibility of Spotify moving to free services, here areofficial confirmationsfrom the company staff.
Indeed, over the past day, it was announced that Spotify will decidedly shift to a mobile platform, with no need for a subscription to listen to music via smartphone or tablet.
Naturally, there are some clarifications to note: this new way of enjoying music will not allow listening to songs entirely at will.
In practice, you can set the artist or music genre, and then Spotify will propose songs in shuffle mode (random).
You will therefore not be able to select a single song or decide the sequence of songs to listen to, unless you want to purchase the subscription, as in the past.
Otherwise, you can use Spotify for free on smartphones and tablets, but without being able to determine the exact order of desired songs. There is always the option to skip less liked tracks (up to a maximum of six times) and, obviously, the display of advertisements remains.
What has radically changed is the listening time limit: a few months ago, Spotify reduced the free music streaming to 10 hours per account, while with this new update there will no longer be any limitation, allowing continuous music enjoyment.
PCs will be the ones to pay the price after this change in usage conditions: it is now increasingly clear that people listen to music on tablets even when they are at home, abandoning their PCs, as explained by Daniel Ek, CEO of Spotify.
It’s a mirror of the times, and Spotify is shown to be keeping pace, ready to revolutionize once again.
