The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is a smartphone that resembles a camera: here are the features of this hybrid.
Samsung unveiled a few days ago one of its upcoming models, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, characterized as a hybrid device: it is indeed a smartphone but could easily be mistaken for a camera.
The device is built with the form factor of a full-fledged smartphone but features a photographic lens on the back, complete with an extendable zoom.
Keen observers will certainly notice – at least hypothetically and ideally, so to speak – similarities to two other Samsung products: the new Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, in fact, seems to be a combination of a Samsung S4 Mini and the Samsung Galaxy Camera.
Let’s talk about the photographic lens with extendable zoom, the true star of this device: the sensor is 16 megapixels, the zoom is 24-240 mm (10x optical zoom), the ISO sensitivity is up to 3200, and finally, the aperture is f3.1 – 6.3.
It also features a Xenon flash and, naturally, can record Full HD videos at 30 FPS or 720p.
Regarding the technical specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom as a smartphone, it is a mid-to-high-end device, with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, 8 GB of internal memory expandable up to 64 GB, 1.5 GB of RAM, and a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 940×540 pixel resolution.
There is also a secondary 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.
The 2330 mAh battery completes the package.
The price of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom has not yet been revealed, nor has any information regarding its release date or target markets: rumors suggest a launch in the upcoming autumn, but official information is still awaited.
Meanwhile, some European online stores have begun listing the specifications for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, with prices indicated at 499 euros.
