Jolla’s First Smartphone with Sailfish OS: Price

The launch and sales price of the first Jolla smartphone have been officialized, featuring Sailfish operating system but Android compatibility.

News on the new smartphone front, but above all on new operating systems.
Jolla
– the Finnish start-up born from the contributions of some former Nokia employees and fundamentally from the ashes of MeeGo – has announced the release of its first smartphone equipped with its proprietary operating system.
It will be called simply “Jolla” and will run on Sailfish OS, with a dual-core processor, although its clock speed has not yet been revealed.
Despite the fact that we are talking about an unprecedented and autonomous operating system, it seems that it will still be possible to access the Google Play Store, as a certain compatibility with Android should be guaranteed.
The screen will be 4.5 inches and there will certainly be an 8-megapixel camera.
4G-LTE networks are supported, and the battery will be removable.

Not much else is known, except that 16 GB of internal memory will be available and that the design has been particularly well-finished, offering interchangeable back covers in different colors: once a new cover is inserted, the smartphone will recognize its color and therefore propose a chromatically coordinated interface on the display.
While awaiting further technical details of the device – as soon as they are announced – it is possible to anticipate the price of Jolla: 399 euros.
The release date has not been specified, but it is generally mentioned as the end of 2013.
