PPC Arbitrage and AdWords: Google’s Official Stance

Google, through the Press Office, has made its position known on the debated topic of PPC arbitrage, also known as AdSense Arbitrage, which I have addressed in one of my editorials.

For those who haven’t followed the previous articles, the topic of arbitrage has been addressed twice. In my first editorial, I focused on how arbitrage is a technique still used today, despite being considered illegal. In the second, while bringing attention to Google’s new transparent initiative of showing AdSense revenues, I highlighted how Google was not responding on the PPC Arbitrage topic where it was a protagonist.

Today, finally, Google’s Press Office, whom I publicly thank, sent me a written comment: “The AdWords guidelines regarding landing page and site quality clearly state that we do not allow the publication of AdWords ads for arbitrage sites that are designed with the intent of exclusively displaying advertisements. If we become aware of such ads, we take action“.

And regarding violations, Google has provided a link for reporting AdWords illicit activities and therefore also sites that illegally engage in PPC Arbitrage. To report these latter violations, simply tick the option ‘the ad may violate AdWords policies in other ways’ present on the Google page.

For those who need more information on AdWords, Google advises to refer to the AdWords support site.
