Me on the web, Google’s new tool for online reputation

It is called “Me on the web” and it is the new tool provided by Google on the account dashboard to monitor your online reputation. Simple and intuitive, Google’s new tool is free.

The name is not the most catchy but it gives the idea well. It is called “Io sul Web”, “Me on the Web” in the original English version, and it is the new tool from Google made available for its users, directly accessible from the dashboard. “Io sul web” is a tool that allows you to monitor your online identity. All of this is free, like many Google tools.

Thanks to “Io sul Web” it is possible to know all the services linked to the account, but not only that. And this is where personal reputation or brand reputation, depending on the linked account monitored, comes into play. Thanks to a configurable option, it is possible to find out what is being said about oneself on the Web. Just as already happens with “Google Alert” which many users already use, with “Io sul web” it is also possible to receive notifications on what is said on the web via email. But that’s not all.

“Io sul web” also offers suggestions for content removal as well as the convenience to receive all information related to the profile in one space, the dashboard of the Google account, precisely.

The reason why Google wanted to enhance this tool is linked to Mountain View’s increasing focus on the user. This is what can be read between the lines of official statements. Looking at the flip side, however, Google’s clear intention is to “gift” a greater number of tools in order to channel Internet users to its own pages, as well as to have greater control over what users do in certain situations related to their own name.

The threat from Facebook has now turned into a sad reality for the Mountain View corporation, today more and more in search of useful tools for users and above all of expedients that would lead to the return of old users to their pages as well as the entry of new users (especially new generations increasingly dependent on Facebook), whose loyalty is becoming increasingly difficult.
