Instagram Launches “Video Feed”, Thematic Channels

Highly significant news regarding the functionality and features of Instagram: thematic video channels called “Video Feed” have arrived.

Instagram is evolving rapidly to keep pace with the “inclinations” its users seem to exhibit.
A completely new feature has been surprisingly launched and is set to expand in the coming weeks.
A couple of days ago, for the Halloween holiday, U.S. subscribers might have noticed the presence of a thematic channel, distinguished by a variety of videos dedicated to Halloween.
What exactly is this about?
The Instagram team has developed channels intended for viewing videos connected by a common theme.
To kick off the “Video Feed” experimentation phase, the Halloween theme was chosen: the editorial coordination team, therefore, highlighted the best – most viewed and appreciated – videos uploaded by users on a dedicated feed.
After the first video ends, the second will start, and so on, with new contributions selected by the control team updated every 24 hours.
Currently, it’s possible to view and follow only one thematic channel at a time, however, the staff has already expressed future plans: to offer multiple channels, allowing users to view more than one.

The aim is, therefore, to build more channels: from music to sports, through specific events, and so on.
It should be noted that, at least in this very initial launch phase in the United States, no advertisements have appeared. However, it’s not impossible that this monetization method could be integrated into the platform in the future.
The timeline for when thematic channels will also appear in Europe is not yet known.
