Google has launched a new section on its Play Store: the one dedicated to movies, available for rent or purchase.

The content available on the Google Play Store is expanding: for a few hours now, users subscribed to Google services have noticed the presence of a new thematic area.
In addition to the well-known Apps, movies have made their debut on the Play Store, available for viewing on users’ devices.
Two options are offered: rental or outright purchase.
Each movie can therefore be opted for just the rental viewing, with a base price starting from €2.99, up to higher amounts depending on the title.
Generally, once the rental is approved, the cinematographic content will be available to the user for 30 days; however, from the moment streaming begins, the movie can be watched in full within the following 48 hours.
Alternatively, you can buy the download, with a variable fee starting from €7.99.
Depending on the chosen film and the user’s preference, you can opt for viewing in high definition (where possible) or in standard version.
While Google’s entry into this specific sector had been anticipated for some time, the news on the Play Store was met with some surprise, as no detailed information or rumors had leaked in recent weeks.
The Mountain View giant is thus embarking on a new phase of its development, providing users of its services with a truly substantial marketplace rich in digital content.
At the moment, it must be admitted, Google clearly leads in this regard and shows no equally strong competitors.
