It has arrived Google Panda Italy. This time Google, setting aside its proverbial “shyness” in making statements, announces it directly on the official Italian blog.

After months of waiting, rumors flying around, half-statements (in about a couple of months Google Panda will be active worldwide, it read about two months ago), here Google Panda makes its appearance in Italy. On the eve of the Ferragosto holiday (Italy is known for its August holidays, a phenomenon that occurs only in our country or almost) when most SEO experts (search engines) are on vacation, Google, punctual as a Swiss watch, has decided to reward quality sites at the expense of those full of duplicate content, consisting of a few lines and with poor quality text. In short, Google Panda enhances quality content.

Google Panda, how it works
According to BIG G, the new algorithm Google Panda impacts low-quality sites, with duplicate content or pages with few lines. In the United States, in the first days of its introduction, many false positives were reported, but also well-known sites with content deemed unhelpful and of poor quality, removed from Google’s organic search results. Many sites (often with numerous pages) have suffered consistent losses, up to 90%. Even in the UK, where the algorithm was introduced a few months ago (after the US), many authoritative sites have lost traffic considerably but other “junk” sites have also received their fair share of “penalization”.

Google Panda active in Italy, what changes
To understand the real impact of this new algorithm on organic search, we need to wait a few days. Google states that the fluctuation should affect only 6-9% of searches compared to about 12% in English-speaking countries, the first to be affected by the algorithm. The officialization of Google Panda in Italy arrived on August 12th, but Google does not state when it was actually launched.
In recent days, several site managers have assumed that Google Panda was already active in Italy, but the lack of official confirmation (Google stated it would announce the launch) left most of them in doubt. Last June 15th, or in the days around mid-June, moreover, a considerable change in SERPs occurred in Italy with sites complaining of consistent traffic losses from the search engine. What actually happened on those days is unknown. However, around that date, but also on other remote dates (October 21, 2010),  Google shuffled the cards and many sites suffered heavy penalties, without communicating anything.
Will Google Panda bring a change of course in BIG G’s communication strategy?
