Google Maps Returns to iPhone and iPod, News

Apple’s maps did not function as expected, and the Cupertino company is backtracking, welcoming Google Maps back to iPhone and iPod.

In the immediate aftermath of the iOS 6 operating system presentation, it became clear to everyone that Apple had decided to abandon Google Maps in favor of a proprietary system.
However, this move did not yield the hoped-for results, as Apple’s maps exhibited rather evident errors and imperfections.
Therefore, today’s news concerns precisely the reintroduction of Google Maps on the App Store for use by iOS devices.
The official announcement came via a dedicated post on Google’s official blog, which notes that the new app has been completely redesigned. Thus, it is no longer the previous version available until about four months ago, but a brand-new application that is decidedly more refined than in the past.

It should be specified that, at present, the new Google Maps application runs very well on devices with iOS 5.1 and higher, allowing for the best possible experience on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5. It also performs well on iPod Touch third, fourth, and fifth generation.
On iPad, however, downloading the new Google Maps is certainly possible, but it should be specified that the current version is not yet optimized for the larger screen of Apple’s tablet, so the rendering is not yet perfect.
