In anticipation of the year’s end, Facebook has introduced a brand-new feature to “sum up” the twelve months that are about to conclude.
It is indeed possible to create a sort of “best of 2012 on Facebook”, to form a sequence of important events that took place over the past year.
On many users’ profiles, next to the status update box, a new section can be noticed: “See your 2012 in review. Discover your most important moments of the year that’s ending“.
By clicking on this section, you will get an overview of the most significant interactions, “likes,” most “impactful” status updates, and new friendships added.
Naturally, everything can be instantly reshared on your timeline, making this personal 2012 summary on Facebook visible to your friends as well.
All of this, of course, benefits virality, as has always been the case with Facebook: it has become an indispensable hallmark for any new functionality integrated into the mechanisms of the global social network.
