Google Sound Search: App Rival to Shazam and Soundhound

A new app for music recognition is ready, this time developed by Google: it’s Google Sound Search.

After announcing the renewed availability of Google Maps for iOS, Google is taking the opportunity to also introduce a new application specifically for the music world.
The novelty is called “Google Sound Search” and it’s part of the suite of useful apps for music recognition. In fact, therefore, the new app Google Sound Search becomes a competitor to the well-known services offered by Shazam and Soundhound.
Google’s step in this direction certainly cannot cause too much surprise, given that for a few weeks now the Mountain View giant has also launched the new service Google Play Music, also active in Italy.
It is clear that a part of Google’s resources have been directed in this direction, and thus here comes an app to use on the go to discover new songs or the titles of tunes playing on the radio.
After recognizing a song, you can choose whether to purchase the single track or the album it’s contained in, directly from the Google Play Store.

If, however, you do not intend to proceed with any downloads, you can still use the app to create an archive with the saved tracks searched through this system, which, obviously, to function must be connected via 3G or Wi-Fi.
As of this writing, Google Sound Search has not yet been made available on the Italian Google Play Store but only on the US one; however, the application will certainly make its appearance on Italian Android tablets and smartphones soon.
