Google Chrome the most vulnerable in the ‘Dirty Dozen’ ranking

Google Chrome has been voted the most vulnerable software according to Dirty Dozen, a special ranking by Bit9 that takes into account the number of updates from January to October.

A record that does not bring glory to Chrome. According to the special ranking of the 12 most vulnerable applications, Dirty Dozen, compiled by Bit9, Google Chrome took first place. The unflattering ranking takes into account software updates over a period of 10 months (from January to October). Software updates, along with their notifications, are the result of a system vulnerability that prompts developers to release security patches. This is likely what the compilers of the ranking considered, which takes into account information from the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s public National Vulnerability Database.

Google like Microsoft? In some ways yes (note Microsoft Office’s third place, the longtime suite from Bill Gates’ company). While Google Chrome “enjoys” this record that was certainly never sought nor desired, achieving it due to 76 reported vulnerabilities, in second place on this special yet unflattering ranking is Apple Safari with 60 vulnerabilities.

The Dirty Dozen ranking of the 12 most vulnerable software

  1. Google Chrome (75 vulnerabilities);
