Facebook: The Wall Returns to a Single Column

Facebook has launched a change in the wall or timeline view, still in testing: it’s going back to a single column.

We talked about this several weeks ago right here on FullPress pages and, it appears, the rumors about the changes regarding the Facebook wall layout are about to be confirmed: we’re going back to the old single-column view.
Many subscribers protested in the aftermath of the Timeline (in Italy specifically called “wall“) appearing on profiles worldwide: the two-column view of one’s activities displeased thousands of people.
This has prompted the Facebook staff to reconsider and proceed with a new restyling of the appearance of their personal page on Facebook.
It has indeed been learned that some users in New Zealand have already been able to appreciate the new single-column wall and, shortly after, the website TheNextWeb published screenshots showing the new graphic interface.
A secondary, smaller, and independently positioned column will be placed alongside the main one, but it will scroll down in parallel and will display ‘Likes’, some photos, and some of your friends’ updates.

The rollout period for the new single-column Timeline in Italy and the rest of the world is not yet known: at the moment, the project is only in the testing phase in New Zealand, and therefore it is expected that the Facebook staff will need a few weeks to gather initial feedback on the innovation, before extending it to other platforms.
