Cityville is the new phenomenon game on Facebook: Cityville has even surpassed Farmville, another favorite game on the social network.
A new record-breaking game has arrived for Facebook game enthusiasts: CityVille, another creation from the fruitful company Zynga. Those who lost their heads over Sim City now have a social version to try their hand at, as it is essentially a very similar game.
However, CityVille is extraordinary: released on December 2nd, it has already become a phenomenon on Facebook, where it is used by over 67 million “citizens”.
Thus, while Farmville saw the infatuation of its subscribers wane starting last spring, CityVille has just landed to capture a large slice of users once again, perhaps tired of the bucolic atmosphere and more interested in the urban pace.
Whether this is the reason for CityVille‘s success or not, the numbers are certain: actively entering the profiles of over 67 million people in less than a month is definitely a record.
It remains to be seen how long the trend will last, as Farmville also reached peaks of 84 million users per month in the past; in the meantime, however, Zynga is already working to offer new games, in order to continue holding high the scepter as one of the most followed (and used) companies on Facebook.
