Obama Live on Facebook: A President’s First Time on FB

The President of the United States of America Obama has officialized his participation in a live event on Facebook: this is the first time a president has used the social network in this way.

We all know the role social networks played during Obama‘s election campaign: disseminating political, economic, and social messages via Facebook helped bring Obama closer to a segment of the electorate very familiar with technology, young, and particularly inclined towards sharing and dissemination.
Having embarked on this path, Obama has decided to continue down it, using the medium once again: on April 20th, he will hold a live speech on Facebook.
It’s a first, as well as an absolute novelty: no president to date has ever done anything like it.
The idea stems from a planned visit to the headquarters of the social network father: Palo Alto is indeed awaiting Obama on an official visit.
Thus, the occasion will be opportune to open a real meeting that will be followed live by millions of people, in the presence (physical in this case) of Mark Zuckerberg, the host.
This much-anticipated appointment of Obama with Facebook netizens will focus particularly on the difficult economic times and strategies for a recovery that is struggling to take off.
Everyone will be able to send a question to President Obama by connecting to the whitehouse.gov website: some will be presented and will find an answer on April 20th, via Facebook.
Having learned the news of the officialization of Obama’s new candidacy for the upcoming American elections, once again the web and social networks in particular seem to gain a leading role in the president’s communication strategies.
