Facebook: “Dislike” button actually under consideration

Facebook staff are indeed working on the introduction of the “Dislike” button or some similar feature.

It has been discussed from time to time as a seemingly imminent possibility, but to date, nothing has ever come of it: the “Dislike” button has not yet appeared on the most famous social network platform.
However, the topic has become highly relevant again today, as Facebook’s founder himself, Mark Zuckerberg, revealed that the project to introduce “Dislike” actually exists.
The father of the social network engaged in an in-depth session of questions prepared and posed directly by Facebook users.
Inevitably, the question about the possible introduction of “Dislike” arose, and Zuckerberg stated that the staff is indeed seriously considering how to allow users to express discontent or disagreement. However, such a novelty would need to be introduced and thought out in the right way.
“Sometimes negative sentiments can be used for bad purposes,” explained Mr. Facebook, thus justifying why, for this reason, it has not yet been possible to include “Dislike” alongside the already available options, namely the “Like” button, the “Share” button, and the “Comment” button.

Rather than aiming to say that something is not in our favor, Facebook is seeking a way to express one’s feelings in the face of unpleasant situations that are shared on Facebook.
Consider, for example, the news of a death: a “Like” would be out of place, even if the intention is to express closeness and empathy.
Therefore, it is not simply a matter of adding lines of code to the portal but of studying a system that is unambiguous for all users.
