Time for news on Twitter, at least rumored: perhaps soon it will be possible to tweet videos. The official profile of Twitter’s CEO holds the proof.
Twitter appears to be aiming for complete autonomy regarding multimedia sharing. Just a short while ago, we reported that Instagram photos were no longer “welcome” on Twitter’s posting system, especially since the social network’s staff had long been working on the creation of proprietary photo filters.
Today, a new indiscretion has surfaced, leaked directly from the official profile of Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter: a video was posted, without links to YouTube or other platforms.
This means that the video was uploaded directly to Twitter, which was enough to signal that something is undoubtedly about to happen on the platform regarding video sharing.
Observers are certainly not surprised, as it’s well known that just a few months ago Twitter successfully concluded negotiations to acquire “Vine“, a startup operating precisely in the video sector.
Perhaps the tweet posted by Costolo is clear evidence that the integration with Vine has already occurred and that the system works, at least for 6-second videos, which is the duration of the uploaded footage.
The timing is indeed specified in the tweet itself, which reads “Steak tartare in six seconds“.
It is not yet known when the new feature will become effective everywhere, but it is likely that only a small number of users will begin testing the service, as is always the case in these situations: after an “on-the-field” experimental phase, the innovations are then expanded and made available to everyone.
