Twitter Mute: How to “Silence” Annoying Users

New features available on Twitter: here’s how to silence annoying users with “Mute”.

Twitter is introducing some new features to improve the user experience on its platform.
Among the latest, the functionality that allows you to “mute” users considered annoying or bothersome certainly stands out.
It happens to everyone to realize they are following someone who occasionally touches on uninteresting topics or topics not aligned with their own inclinations.
To avoid having to unfollow that contact, now on Twitter you can select “Mute” – in the Italian version, it is “Togli Voce” – so as not to see every single tweet from that person appear anymore.
To put it plainly, it’s nothing different from what has already been happening for a long time on Facebook: on the father of all social networks, in fact, the “Hide” option has existed for a long time, useful for organizing your contacts without having to unfollow or block anyone.
Twitter is adapting today and thus responding to the requests of its subscribers, launching “Mute” in both the web version with browser access, and in the mobile version through the official apps for Android and iOS.

Once a single user is “muted”, you will see a red amplifier symbol with a bar over it appear on their profile.
From here, should you wish to revoke the decision to mute a contact, you can then position yourself on this red icon and proceed to deactivate the “Mute“, thus returning to read the contact’s tweets.
At the moment, as with all new features, only a small fraction of users will be able to test the new service, which will nonetheless be extended to everyone in the coming weeks.
