Sony TV Bravia Oled 4K HDR A1, Android TV

Sony’s first OLED TVs, featuring unparalleled levels of contrast and black reproduction, new Acoustic Surface audio technology, and an original stand-free design, will be available starting next May.

Sony today announced the European launch timelines for its BRAVIA OLED 4K HDR A1 TVs. The BRAVIA OLED A1 series offers a unique combination of the superb image quality of OLED technology, optimized by Sony’s 4K HDR X1 Extreme processor, the world’s first Acoustic Surface sound system, and a futuristic design characterized by the absence of a stand. Thanks to over 8 million self-illuminating pixels, the OLED A1 series significantly enhances the viewing experience with unparalleled black rendering, intense and authentic colors, dynamic contrasts, blur-free images, and a wide viewing angle. Furthermore, the 4K HDR X1 Extreme processor expands the potential of OLED to reproduce extraordinary 4K HDR images.

Sony was the first brand to introduce OLED televisions to the market in 2007 with the launch of the XEL-1, a revolutionary display at the time. Since then, it has continued to develop award-winning OLED products for professional broadcasting and video production, used for a wide range of purposes: editing, graphic design, special effects, film production, and programs… Sony’s professional OLED monitors have received the Scientific and Engineering Academy Award® and the Technical Emmy Award, in recognition of their enormous contribution to the development and innovation of broadcast technologies.

“Since its presentation at CES last January, the BRAVIA OLED A1 series has been extremely well-received for its innovative combination of class-leading image quality and the Acoustic Surface sound system,” explained Motoi Kawamura, Head of TV Marketing and Product Planning at Sony Europe. “From next May, European customers will also be able to experience firsthand the extraordinary performance of BRAVIA OLED A1.”

The debut of Acoustic Surface audio technology

Leveraging the absence of backlighting inherent in OLED structure, Sony has developed Acoustic Surface, a new technology capable of delivering impactful audio directly from the screen. Thanks to its original design, the screen resonates at every point, ensuring a sound-to-picture correspondence unimaginable for a conventional device. Unlike traditional LED TVs, which transmit sound from the bottom or sides, the A1 series seamlessly blends audio and visuals, giving the impression that voices emanate directly from the actors speaking or explosions from the screen. Furthermore, Acoustic Surface technology synchronizes sound and image from all angles, right to the edges of the display, for optimal results. This, combined with the extremely wide viewing angle of OLED technology, ensures that BRAVIA A1 televisions provide an unrivaled visual and acoustic experience, regardless of the viewer’s position or angle.

Exclusive stand-less design

By eliminating the speakers typically located around or below the television, Acoustic Surface technology contributes to the aesthetic beauty of the A1 series’ cutting-edge design. With no visible stand or speakers, it removes all distractions, allowing the viewer to focus solely on the superior image quality. The rear support houses a powerful subwoofer and cable management system and can be folded against the TV for wall mounting.

Unparalleled contrast and sharpness

The new BRAVIA OLED 4K HDR A1 television line supports the HDR (High Dynamic Range) format, which delivers spectacular contrasts and vivid, brilliant colors. Sony’s advanced 4K HDR X1 Extreme processor enhances color accuracy, contrast, and sharpness, and supports HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision for access to ever-expanding HDR content catalogs. The processor’s performance also allows for upscaling lower-resolution content to near 4K HDR quality through “object-based” HDR remastering technology that detects, analyzes, and optimizes each individual image element to improve overall contrast. This incredible suite of technologies contributes to a distinctly superior HDR experience, characterized by maximum clarity and an even wider range of colors and contrasts. TRILUMINOS Display technology maps colors to achieve a diverse palette; Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR creates smoother color transitions without unsightly banding; dual database signal processing reduces visual noise for enhanced sharpness; and the Motionflow function corrects artificial movements for extremely fluid and natural reproduction. Sony’s technologies are designed to deliver more realistic images than ever before from every perspective, from deep, precise colors down to the finest nuances, to brightness and black saturation.

Android TV

The BRAVIA OLED 4K HDR A1 televisions integrate Android TV, the platform that offers movies, shows, and thousands of apps to enjoy satellite and cable TV, download content, and play games without leaving your living room. Television enthusiasts can watch programs and movies limitlessly from Google Play, Netflix, Amazon Video, YouTube, and other channels.
