Office for Android Coming Soon: Testing Underway

It appears the Office suite will soon be available for Android. Here’s how to apply to test the beta version.

News is on the horizon for those eager to use Office functionalities on devices running the Android operating system: a specific version may be released very soon.
This rumor is being circulated by The Verge, which reports that Microsoft’s labs are refining a beta version of Office primarily designed for tablets.
If confirmed, this trial edition could be distributed to a smaller initial group of users by the end of 2014, and then likely expanded to everyone in 2015.
Anyone can apply to test the product by signing up via the official Microsoft Pre-Release Programs page dedicated to Office.
The project doesn’t seem entirely abstract or hypothetical, given that a few months ago Microsoft launched the version of Office specifically for iPad.
After a long wait, Apple users were pleased with the suite of applications, available in a basic free version and a paid version (useful for those who need to edit documents).

The potential success of Office for Android is absolutely certain and expected: just look at the numbers for Office for iPad, an app that achieved a record number of downloads in just a few hours, to realize how appealing such programs are to a large number of device users.
Similarly, Android users will undoubtedly welcome this new development, which, especially for those using their devices for work, could make a significant difference in managing their mobile operations.
