A wealth of new features for Android Market: a significant redesign, new categories, and the new lightning refund procedure are the standout novelties of the brand new Android Market.
Android Market unveils some important new features in its latest version: the graphical redesign is immediately striking, but there’s more than just a “new look”.
The graphic change primarily reflects the need to provide users with greater navigability and fluidity in accessing Android Market content. To this end, categories have been meticulously organized and sped up, with the addition of two new sections: Widgets and Live Wallpapers.
Regarding the “substance,” we can note that the size of the programs available on Android Market has been increased, now reaching up to 50 MB. Furthermore, all application information is readable on a single screen: a much less dispersive system compared to the past.
Another new feature concerns the refund policy, and this is where some objections might arise: instead of 24 hours, you can now request a refund within 15 minutes. This change has been dubbed “lightning refunds” and, needless to say, it hasn’t thrilled users who complain about having too little time to change their minds.
For its part, Google states that the decision was made to protect all those developers who have seen an increase in refund requests over time. Apparently, there has been a multiplication of refund requests, especially for game applications: the typical user, after trying out a game and playing a few rounds, decided to request a refund, despite having used it. This practice harms developers, and Google is attempting to curb it with the 15-minute lightning refund.
The new Android Market is available for update and interaction with any smartphone equipped with Android 1.6 or higher.
