The Nokia A1 with Android operating system could be launched this summer by the Finnish corporation, which was under embargo until this year due to an agreement with Microsoft.
According to well-informed sources, summer could be the launch period for Nokia’s new smartphone. It’s the Nokia A1 for Android, whose first images are already circulating the web. Â
Fans of the Finnish smartphone manufacturer will be aware of the agreements between Nokia and Microsoft. For those less attentive, we remind you that one of the clauses of Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia’s devices and services division three years ago was that the European brand would not release phones under the Nokia brand until 2016. Â
Although Nokia has emphasized that it will respect the agreements before releasing new mobile phones, rumors about its next device are circulating on the internet. First and foremost, the Nokia A1, for Android (an open-source operating system without commercial restrictions), is considered suitable for the mid-range market.Â
However, despite rumors speaking of a smartphone for Android , the detail revealed so far does not suggest it’s truly an Android phone. It doesn’t even seem to be a variant of Windows Mobile, although some might expect the agreement between Nokia and Microsoft for new Nokia versions to continue beyond the set time (2016).
Furthermore, there is little information on technical specifications, but what is known so far is that the Nokia A1 will feature a Snapdragon 652 SoC and a 5.5-inch FHD display. Again, according to rumors, the smartphone could be available for sale starting in the summer of 2016.Â
Since there are no official sources to date and no press releases have been issued by the Finnish company, when we refer to the Nokia A1, we can only talk about leaked information. We will see if what has been reported so far turns out to be true and if the “mole” has done their job well.
