Skype Translator Preview Ready for Testing with Microsoft

Thanks to the close collaboration between the Skype and Microsoft teams, Skype Translator will be available for testing soon, offering simultaneous translation for chats.

Simultaneous chat translation is here: Skype has announced that the Skype Translator project has reached a testing phase, allowing it to be tried out now.
It has been learned that, through the agreement with Microsoft – the company which, we recall, acquired Skype – the Skype Translator Preview version can be launched and tested by a limited group of users, provided they have terminals equipped with the Windows 8.1 operating system.
This way, it will be possible to initiate conversations via Skype even between users who do not speak the same language: Skype Translator will enable real-time instant translation.
Currently, those interested in this new feature only need to “apply” by visiting the dedicated page: http://www.skype.com/en/translator-preview/?intcmp=blogs-_-generic-click-_-skype-translator-early-preview-sign-up-opens-today.
Once there, you will be prompted to leave your personal details, specifically your email address, the language you speak, and the operating system version you are using.

Subsequently, you will be selected and contacted to be admitted into the testing program.
You will then be able to start using the innovative features of Skype Translator, but according to what has been learned, this cannot happen for a few more weeks, and in any case, most likely, before the end of the current year.
As development of the new feature progresses, it will support 45 languages, covering both video calls and textual chats.
2015 will therefore mark the arrival of the final version of Skype Translator and will facilitate global communication.
