Internet Explorer 6 twilight: Microsoft wants to eliminate it

It’s time to cut the dead branches at Microsoft: Internet Explorer 6 is about to retire, as it is now outdated, unsuitable for today’s web, and insecure.

Microsoft officially announces its intention to completely retire Internet Explorer 6, a browser version that is too old and, moreover, not very secure.
The invitation to internet users has resonated clearly: abandon IE6 in favor of more updated software.
To this end, Microsoft has set up a dedicated website: “The Internet Explorer 6 countdown“.
As IE6 approaches its tenth anniversary, Microsoft has long focused on much faster, more stable, and secure solutions. Thus, a few days before the release of the definitive version of Internet Explorer 9, a sort of “campaign” has been launched to adhere to the new proposed standards.
Microsoft no longer intends to direct attention and resources towards browsing software that is not keeping pace with the “new” web.
The risks, in terms of security, for IE6 users are too great, risks that could be drastically reduced simply by updating the PC to a more current version of Explorer.
Microsoft has decided to communicate directly with users because, worldwide, a significant 11.3% of netsurfers are still nostalgically attached to IE6, as highlighted by a map on the countdown website.
Those who wish to accept Microsoft’s invitation can currently test Internet Explore 9 release candidate. In the article dedicated by FullPress to IE9, it is possible to view a presentation video of the new browsing software, in Italian.
