Facebook and Skype, Deal Nears for Video Calls on Facebook

Skype video calls on Facebook: this is the scenario that may soon be revealed to social network users.

Today’s news is a déjà vu: it’s not the first time we’ve heard about a supposed agreement between Facebook and Skype, two giants of social communication.
Although negotiations seemed to have stalled, it appears the deal has actually been woven away from the spotlight, which has been constantly focused particularly on Facebook.
It is Bloomberg that is openly talking about a pact, practically already in the final stages, which will allow making free VoIP calls through Skype integration on Facebook.
The decision to unite users and forces was likely triggered—among various reasons—by the need to curb the potential of Apple’s FaceTime and Google’s Gmail calls.
Both Facebook and Skype would benefit significantly from this agreement: the king of social networks could offer yet another feature to its users, thus managing to “retain” them within its pages, without further distractions.
As for Skype, although very popular, it hasn’t yet reached certain user segments, which are easily reachable today thanks to Facebook.
There is therefore much anticipation surrounding this supposed agreement, for which no official statements have been leaked from official Facebook and Skype sources.
