The Samsung Galaxy Folder is a new smartphone being released with a visible novelty: it’s a clamshell.
Samsung is about to launch a brand new smartphone, currently destined only for the Asian market and, specifically, for Korea.
Its name is Samsung Galaxy Folder and, despite the fact that it will probably never arrive in Europe, it is making waves due to its design.
A true dive into the past, at least aesthetically speaking: the Samsung Galaxy Folder is indeed characterized by its clamshell opening, a solution not generally used by smartphones.
Therefore, the elements that definitely stand out are:
- an internal screen, located at the top;
- an external screen that occupies the entire front body;
- a large internal physical keyboard.
Regarding other technical specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Folder will have a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system.
The camera is unique and has 8 megapixels, placed on the lower part of the device, which therefore sits on the back shell (when observing the device closed).
Connectivity also includes support for the LTE module, for fast 4G networks.
It is practically certain that the Samsung Galaxy Folder will not reach our shores, but it is interesting to note its existence, to understand if the clamshell form factor will be a future trend even for smartphones that will reach our markets in the coming months.
