Interesting news is coming to Google Play Music: free music streaming is now available.
The online music industry seems to be increasingly worthy of attention from web giants.
Thus, Google has also decided to enter this market segment with much more determination, which – apparently – attracts a large number of users.
For a few hours now, in fact, it has been noticed that Big G’s music platform has partially changed its appearance, highlighting some new sections and removing others.
The “Explore” option has disappeared, but in its place have come the “New releases,” “Charts,” and “New Radio” areas.
Above all, what captures the most attention is the news – for now only for users in the United States – of the possibility of enjoying free music streaming.
Just as already happens on competitor platforms like Spotify or Deezer, the option to listen freely to all the music you want without the need for paid subscriptions has now arrived on Google Play Music.
Currently, this option is not available for Italy or other markets because, as already mentioned, the novelty has only been launched for the US platform. A future launch in Europe is hypothesized, but no useful information is yet available from Google’s headquarters.
For now, therefore, Italian users will have to continue paying the subscription of 9.90 euros per month to access the vast music catalog of Google Play Music.
Returning to the features of free music streaming, the monetization of the service offered to subscribers is done through advertising: as with Spotify, the playback of songs of your choice is periodically interrupted to insert a commercial, with a commercial break every 3 or 4 tracks listened to.
Some other conditions have also been established to be able to use the free service, without impacting the quality which remains high: MP3s at 320kbps are available.
During playback, for example, you cannot go back to a previous track, nor can you skip more than 6 songs within an hour of listening.
Finally, when using the radio function, you will not be able to know in advance which song the system will play next.
No big deal: Google Play Music is undergoing major updates and its continuous refinement is providing users with an increasingly accurate and personalized selection of preferences expressed during the use of the service itself.
We therefore remain in anticipation of the novelties arriving on the European platforms as well.
