Facebook See First: feature to set timeline priority

With the new “See First” option, Facebook aims to bring order to users’ timelines by establishing viewing priority criteria.

Facebook continually proposes new ways to use the platform, and during this period it is testing a new feature concerning the display mechanism of news in the timeline.
Thanks to the new option called “See First”, a select group of users is testing the service that will eventually allow users to establish a “priority list” to choose what appears on their feed.
Do you prefer to read the status update of a friend or a page? With See First you can indicate your preference, thus personalizing not so much the active user experience, but the mechanism of proposing officially published social events on Facebook.
It often happens, in fact, that we miss the latest updates from some friends, which are “overtaken” in the timeline by status updates from more recently added contacts or by content proposed by various pages.
With “See First”, simply indicate that you want to follow a particular person by ticking the new “Following” icon. This way, you will never miss a post again and will immediately receive updates from the selected contact as soon as you log in to Facebook.

With this new mechanism, therefore, the currently active algorithm will have an additional parameter to consider. Since there is no official or confirmed information about the elements on which the current algorithm is based, it is hypothesized that the news is positioned taking into account the type of interaction each user has with others and with the pages they follow, the reading time dedicated to various elements, the number of comments, and so on.
If “See First” is indeed implemented for all subscribers, something in the newsfeed is destined to change, following – this time – the precise and specific indications of the users themselves.
