Nikon announces the 2016-2017 edition of the Nikon Photo Contest, one of the largest international photography competitions, which features important new additions this year.
This edition – the 36th – is revamped with the addition of two new categories: ‘Nikon 100th Anniversary,’ created to celebrate Nikon’s 100th birthday in 2017, and ‘Next Generation,’ dedicated to individuals under 30 and designed to encourage new generations of photographers.
The Nikon Photo Contest will also feature an outstanding Lead Judge this year: British graphic designer and world-renowned art director Neville Brody. He says of his role: “The Nikon Photo Contest is globally recognized as a place to discover promising new talent and find rich inspiration for one’s imagination. As Lead Judge, I feel a responsibility to uphold this great tradition by selecting works that represent new, superior ideas. I’m eager to see how participants will express their creativity and imagination through the works they submit.”
The photography and video categories of the Nikon Photo Contest 2016-2017 will accept entries created with any digital device, including smartphones, and videos ranging from 6 to 180 seconds in length. Winners of the Nikon Photo Contest 2016-2017 will be announced in July 2017, with an awards ceremony held in Japan, home of Nikon Corporation.
Submission Period: From October 17, 2016, to January 27, 2017 (closing at 1:00 PM JST).
The Nikon Photo Contest will also feature an outstanding Lead Judge this year: British Neville Brody, a world-renowned graphic designer and art director.
Numerous DSLRs, including the D5 and D810, and cash prizes are up for grabs.
