LG’s New Google TVs Arrive: Early Insights

Although Google TVs haven’t achieved global success to date, LG is trying again and is taking advantage of CES 2013 to present its new line.

LG is set to unveil some noteworthy innovations at CES 2013, an eagerly anticipated event for the technology sector, taking place in January 2013.
Among LG’s flagship products deserving the most prestigious showcase will be Google TV: the Korean company has reportedly developed five new models, confirming the increasingly close collaboration between Google and LG.
Apparently, five models will be exhibited at CES 2013: there will be a classic 42-inch TV, a 47-inch one, and finally three more Google TV models branded LG will be offered in 50, 55, and 60-inch sizes.
More in-depth details are scarce, but what is certain is that the latest generation televisions will seamlessly interact with Android-based tablets and smartphones.
These Google TVs will feature apps, widgets, and an interactive interface to deliver real-time information directly to the TV screen.
Significant attention appears to have been dedicated to voice recognition functionalities, without neglecting the classic method of information search and command input via keyboard: the “Magic Qwerty Remote” has been introduced, a utility that effectively combines voice recognition with the ability to use a traditional QWERTY keyboard.

Aesthetics will also be a highlight, with the larger screen models, in particular, boasting a clean and elegant design, featuring a distinctively curved stand and a minimalist bezel.
However, there are no early announcements regarding the potential release date or pricing of these Google TVs, though it is likely more information will be available starting January 8, the opening day of CES 2013.
