Kindle Fire, Amazon’s tablet for $199

Amazon’s tablet exists and has just been unveiled: Kindle Fire will be sold for only $199, but its basic features are missing some not insignificant functionalities.

It is now completely official: Amazon’s tablet has just been unveiled. It is called Kindle Fire and is Amazon’s offering to enter the tablet market without neglecting the company’s flagship product: the ebook reader.
Kindle Fire is a tablet with a 7-inch screen and the Android operating system, exactly as widely anticipated on FullPress.
The price, however, has changed compared to forecasts: if the presumed $250 already pleased users looking for a low-end tablet, the officialization of the figure is even more surprising than any rosy anticipation. The price of the Kindle Fire is indeed only $199, a truly quite low figure for a tablet.
However, some points remain to be considered before purchasing a Kindle Fire: the device is equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity but not 3G. If you intend to use the tablet on the go or do not have a broadband connection at home, this restriction is a matter of no small importance.
Other technical accessories that are missing are a microphone and a camera. Regarding the screen, an IPS with Gorilla Glass has been used.
It is confirmed that Kindle Fire, despite running Android, will have a customized interface that will interact with the Amazon Appstore and not the Android Market.
It is still a good foundation, given that Amazon’s store currently has about 100,000 apps available, and which, after the release of Kindle Fire and also considering that the prices of the Kindle ebook reader have been lowered, will surely multiply if the market’s response to this new tablet is positive.
At the moment, the presentation conference for the brand new Kindle Fire is still ongoing: in the next few hours, all the technical characteristics will be released in detail.
