Iubitinera, the Official App for the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy

To accompany pilgrims and tourists in Rome during this important event, Accenture and Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi have developed a mobile application available for Android and iOS, called ‘IUBITINERA‘ from the Latin “Iubilaeum Itinera” (Jubilee Journeys). Users can download the application for free and use it as a digital guide through the four official Journeys that traverse the center of Rome: the Papal Journey, the Pilgrim’s Journey, the Journey of Mercy, the Marian Journey.

Available in Italian and English, the application contains interactive maps with photographs and descriptions of over 60 points of interest, including works of art and historical monuments. For each route, users can follow the itinerary through the maps and receive pop-up notifications on their mobile device that activate when they are near points of interest located along the Journeys. Through the app, users will also have real-time tourist and transport information for the city of Rome, and pilgrims will be able to access religious meditation texts.

IUBITINERA is navigable in both online and offline modes and has been designed to offer an intuitive user experience suitable for all ages, allowing quick access to information. The application allows users to track the distance covered and visualize the remaining distance before reaching St. Peter’s Basilica and the Holy Door, the destination of the four Jubilee Journeys. Furthermore, users can save and share the Journey taken through the main social networks, providing and receiving feedback on their experiences.

The Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy began on December 8, 2015, and will conclude on November 20, 2016. The IUBITINERA app will be managed and updated by Accenture throughout this period to offer the best visiting experience to pilgrims and tourists visiting Rome.
